Submissions & Editorial Policies

As QUT journalism students and alumni, we are incredibly passionate about providing a platform for students and graduates to build up their portfolio, so they excel in their careers.

This publication does not have a particular theme for our contributors to write under. If you have a story idea that you believe is within public interest or has a sharp newsworthy angle, we want to hear about it.

We accept submissions year-round and are open to provide feedback on pitches prior to submission.

You may submit TV and radio packages, vox pops, written articles, and photojournalism.

Pitch and submit your story here.

Before you submit

To ensure our reporting is carried out with accuracy, fairness, and appropriate sensitivity, Drop The Anchor follows the MEAA Code of Ethics and the Advisory Guidelines published by the Australian Press Council.

To maintain a high standard of writing, we also follow the publicly available Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s guidance for the preparation and editing of digital news.

You can find all editorial guidelines and policies here.
