Meet your editors

Hi, we're your friendly neighbourhood journalists who run Drop The Anchor.

We are three passionate creatives and QUT students past and present, who each bring a diverse pocket of experiences to the role, and equal amount of enthusiasm for spotlighting your journalism.

We've each put together a few lines that sum up what we're all about, and what you can expect from the work we do.

What you see behind me is no mere mountain, but a humble active volcano in East Java, Indonesia. Whilst I might have endangered myself for a story (stay tuned!) the views from within the crater were immaculate and unforgettable.

Other things I do in my spare time outside of giving my mother a heart attack are surfing, reading and travelling abroad whenever I can. I have worked for a few years as a radio journalist at 4ZZZ Radio and now at ABC Brisbane, with a heavy interest in federal and local politics and entertainment news!

Do you like lifting birds? Because I do. On other days, I love travelling, eating, and the gym! I write about all sorts of topics but I'm particularly interested in niche topics like cults, furries, and more.

Fun fact about me: in my first year at university, I broke the SCJ cult story in Brisbane before any major publication.

Anyways, I am an international student from Malaysia and I have previously worked as an editor at QUT's Glass Magazine.

¡Hola!

First generation Australian-Peruvian here!

Pictured before you is a 5ft woman who may or not fit the Latina stereotype, but is nevertheless breaking the glass ceiling for her community. As a self proclaimed pilates princess, I love to start my weekends with a stretch, and post-workout Matcha, which is sometimes swapped out for a spicy margarita!

My work heavily focuses on women's rights and justice, and other humanitarian issues that provoke the public to reflect on. I have submitted multiple works to QUT Glass Magazine, and am currently the Media Director for QUT's Business Management Student Association. I have a strong drive for crafting engaging and authentic media that engages audiences, promoting meaningful conversation.
